Tikona fort is one of fort in Pavan Maval. which is located in Sahayadri hills, it had a high importance to defend the enemy attack from bhor ghat.
Tikona Fort is center of attraction for trekkers.One day trek of Tikona Fort is full of excitement & Thrill.
Location: Pavan Maval, Tikona- Peth, kamshet.
60km from Pune and 140 -150km from Mumbai.
Best time to visit: Rainy and winter Season ( August- January )
Elevation: 3500 ft above sea level.
Good for night camp
Trekkers visit fort in rainy season,enjoy the trek in heart of nature.climate is cool surrounded with Pavna dam and Indrayani river basin, lohagad fort, Tung Fort, Visapur Fort, If sky is clean you can see the Sinhagad, Torna, Rajgad fort.
trekkers & visitors also visit Bedse cave. which is on way to kamshet.
Fort Structure: Triangular in Shape so its called as Tikona. Carved in hill with fortification walls, water tank. Army Barracks, Grain Storage, Vitandashwar Temple, Taljai temple, Watch Tower's , Main door, Chor Darwaja.
Important Overview: Tikona has high importance as it played important role of watch tower to keep eye on enemy movements. it was taken by Chattrapati Shivaji Maharaj and included in Swaraj. Nataji Palkar was in charge for Security of Surat loot. Which was kept at lohagad, so he had the control on tikona fort including other forts.
Fort was ruled by Satavahanas to British, now its under government of India.
Important News: Recently the villagers has found the under ground passage in tikona fort. this is main attraction for Trekkers and many visitors who visit fort.
